    stocked trout fishing

I'm taking my youngest daughter out to Glen Rose tommorrow for some stocked rainbows. She has been practicing casting her new fly rod she got for Christmas. I was planning on bright colored salmon egg flies and wooly boogers to start. I'd love to hear what flies y'all been catching these stocked trout on here in our Texas rivers.

Take a spinning rod and get a super duper lure. Cast with a slow to very slow retrieve.

Little pink or yeller marshmallows and a split-shot on that tippet to get the marshmeller down.

Ha! I'll get me some of this as an insurance policy!

speaking of insurance policy, years ago on Beavers Bend I kept some very very small plastic worms in my pack. The last 5- 10 minutes of light I would shout out a steak dinner bet! Who ever catches the last fish of the day gets a free steak dinner that night. I've pulled out the worms as a secret weapon when my brother wasn't looking-it worked everytime!!

They also hit on corn with a split shot on a spinner rod.

Them little suckers will eat dang near anything you put on a hook! We always just used the small marshmallows with a split shot to sink em. My Kids always had a blast and got to snack at the same time!

I got back from a guided trip a few weeks ago and the guide rigged us with an egg on top and 18” below with a natural (buckskin) squirmy worm. Use light split shot above the egg and run a strike indicator. Y’all will have a blast!

We've tried a time or two around the metroshtupp. The problem around here is cormorants clean up on the fish before we've been able to catch any.
