There was a thread on here at one time for things to be sure to put in a new home being constructed. I cannot find that thread for the life of me. I’m sure I’m not searching right. Anyone know which one I’m talking about ???

Tankless hot water heater! Awesome! 9' ceilings! Tile or wood floors throughout especially if you have pets. Large enough walk in shower with 2 shower heads, talk about nice!

Recess in wall behind dryer for exhaust vent. So dryer isn’t 6” away from wall to make room for vent hose. Sits even with washer.

CAT5 cables to all outside corners for cameras ( can be left coiled in soffits until ready to go).
LED lights outside around the house/garage with a 3 way switch with one switch in the master bedroom. Great for security, as well as loading and unloading in the dark. How old will you be in this house? Can you age well here? 3-0’ doorways to master bed, bath and laundry. Curbless/roll in shower. Lots of backing in walls for grab bars, taxidermy, anything you, want to put on a wall. Floor drain in laundry room If feasible. I love having a large low sink in the garage with hot and cold water. I think it’s called a dog sink. Natural gas or propane piped to patio. Closet organizer not wire or shelf and rod. Kitchen cabinets- servo drive trash and large drawers No doors or pullouts behind doors . One level kitchen island for more useful counter space for sausage making etc. Skip the pot filler for a giant single bowl stainless sink and a touch faucet. USB outlets in the island, master bedroom at night stand height and office areas. Insulation between floors. I’m not a fan of ceilings over 9’ for heating and cooling, but I also love the look of lofts and vaulted ceilings. Gear room with fan and lots of hang rods for clothes and gear. Makes a world of difference for keeping hunting and fishing gear in order and ready to go. Kids are temporary, so nothing too specific to any phase of raising a family. No more square feet than necessary, excluding garages and gear rooms. I see a lot of people payimg closing costs, realtors coming and going to downsize, versus right sizing and getting through raising a family, basically ending up in less home for more money. Lots of garage lighting, outlets on separate circuits, 20 and 30 amp as well as 220v Retractable extension cords ceiling mounted as well as an air hose that’s plumbed to a medium compressor. Water heater is there, water softner is there, Washer is there... If any of those springs a leak or gusher, the water has a place to go(down the drain) as apposed to flooding the house. |

A hard line from your main propane tank to where you will have your grill. So much easier than having to constantly refill small tanks.

I'm about 75% through with my new home build.
I see a lot of great ideas and I added a few I am on propane so i piped to outdoor kitchen 22kw backup generator wired to run entire house. Transfer switch has shedding capabilities so I can control what drops out if power load gets too much. Garage ceiling plugs to hang retractable electric cord reels. Hot water to outside faucet by garage 20x24 trophy room with 12' side walls and 21' peak walls. 12x12 storm room Walk in showers with no step. 36" doors through out house ( plan ahead for possible wheelchair or walker access) 42" door coming from garage to house. You'll thank me later. Electric plugs in eves for xmas lights Wire for all smart home, data, cameras, alarm, stereo anything that you might need. Cheaper now than after house is built. Tankless water heaters with manifold and circulating pump Plugs in cabinet drawers in restrooms for hair dryers, curling irons and whatever else our wives can think of. USB plugs anywhere you think you need it for charging We did a big pantry with counter top for prepping, put pot filler in pantry too. Stairs in garage to attic. 42" wide Plenty of lighting and outlets in attic I'm sure there are more, but that's a good start plus what everyone else has said. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

If you have young children, fart fans in their bedrooms for diaper changes. I regret not doing this after the last 5 years changing my little ones’ diapers.

Prior to drywall, raid the trash pile and block the walls needed at $0 cost. Why give up another 1/2" of a room?

My buddy has built-in dog kennels under his cabinets in the mud room/laundry room. I thought they were pretty cool. Was able to match cabinetry wood.
