I only have 2 shoulder mounts, and a lot of euros...maybe it’s because I’ve never had the good fortune to hunt anywhere that had the luxury of making a shoulder mount a requirement, but there is no way I would pass up an invite for that reason. But I understand that not everyone is the same.
On a COMPLETELY unrelated subject, PM me and I’ll shoot you my number to give to them ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I have one shoulder mount and it is a big hog, which was donated. All my Whitetail, Axis , Black buck, coyote are skulls/caps/euros.
If I were hunting to take a once in a lifetime deer, I would want it under my terms otherwise it would be clouded by others wants. But it is their sandbox, their rules. Do you have to use their Taxidermist? I find Euros are less maintenance, never have to worry about bugs and you can maximize on the wall space. |

We like both. But we have more Euros, because my husband likes to carve them. He is currently learning how to do shoulder and body mounts as well. Here’s pictures for reference.

I do some taxidermy mounts for myself and friends, I myself prefer European mounts, most of the time.

I have gotten where I prefer euro’s, but if I killed a very special deer I might shoulder mount it.

Those carvings are amazing. My wife would kill for one. Does he carve them for other people?

I prefer shoulder mounts. Euros are probably my least favorite. I have three European mounts; one pronghorn, one aoudad and one whitetail killed last year I hung at the ranch. Have a bunch of shoulder mounts, to me a shoulder mount represents life and a skull is a reminder of death. I do like an antler mount when done with a nice plaque. I would euro a elk or red deer but I doubt I euro mount another whitetail, as I don’t want a bunch of skulls hung up on my walls. About a year ago I gave all my skull caps away, they didn’t fit the decor anymore and were just sitting in a box in the garage

I just like mounts in general… euro or shoulder or pedestal, or full body

I had 1 deer mounted in 1994. I'll never do it again. Don't care if it's a new world record. Mounting or not doesn't reflect my appreciation for the animal or the hunt.

I prefer the skulls and I'm cheap anyway so rather use the cash saved for more hunting and fishing.
