...is it safe to refill them?

Neighbor said they are not meant to be refilled. If you do, they degrade and can explode. He cited a news article that he said he read where one exploded and killed a lady.

What say the green screen?

For the record, they do make one refillable.

They are not meant to be refilled! Do not do it, they are not built for it.

I refill mine. If they get overfilled and the metal bulges, or if they’re rusted up, I’ll throw them out.

I refill mine . I use them for lanterns and cooking not a buddy heater.. they have a Prv on them. I've never looked into what the pressure rating is . I wouldn't full a bulging or damaged tank

They can be refilled, not recommended and to my understanding you are legally not supposed to transport one that has been refilled. Not sure how they would be able to tell if they checked out on the road?
