I started a thread herewhile back wanting to ditch my .223 AR. Or trade for bigger.

This is way easier. I went w 6.5G. If they had 6.8 I'd of gotten it. Still considering 7.62.

Don’t need any of the above, but at that price, I’m seriously considering it.

They're 399, so corners are being cut somewhere. Likely, when they source components. They have a lifetime warranty, so there's that. When it comes to killing critters, I'll take a chance at 399.

I didn’t get one of these discount Radicals but did buy one off here for a bit more with a scope. Not sure if these are different but I’ve been super impressed with my Radical 7.62x39. Especially with a can, it’s a shooter for what I paid for it much less at this price if it’s apples to apples:

Between myself and coworkers we have bought about six in various configurations with no issues. I did add an extended firing pin and stronger hammer spring as a precaution to my 7.62x39 because it gets a steady diet of steel case ammo.

I tried to talk a co-worker and a family member into looking elsewhere considering Radical’s rough start in the business. Both refused to listen to me and bought them in 5.56. I’ve shot both of them and they are definite shooters and had zero malfunctions. Word is they revamped and are making decent guns, especially for the price.

How much can really go wrong with an AR? The biggest issue I can see is a chamber being reamed incorrectly or a gas port drilled incorrectly. The solution for that is a known quality replacement barrel. A barrel swap only takes a few minutes. Other than that, you're changing out a BCG or a buffer.

Any manufacturer selling and AR for $399 is cutting corners somewhere. Most likely, it's on component selection. Most people won't shoot these guns enough to see a component fail.

No one is buying a gun they have to work on right after they buy it. The 2 I’ve shot were fine, and that’s coming from a Larue armorer that has carried a Larue for over a decade. Several times I’ve had to file, ream, etc., on budget guns, but not the 2 Radicals I’ve shot. Maybe my people just got lucky and got good ones.

For 399 I'm not complaining if I had to wrench on one, and this is coming from a KAC > everything snob. No issues with mine yet, I'm only 500 rounds in though.

I had a few coworkers order more and they came in today. One issue out the box with the 7.62x39 rifle, charging handle is super tight. We will head to Stafford on Monday and see if they can swap it out under warranty. For the price nobody is complaining.

Just got my 2 7.62x39's in today. They feel and look a lot nicer than a $400 gun. Threw the suppressor on and will see how it shoots next weekend.

I keep refreshing the link daily and keep talking myself out of picking some up.

Maybe tomorrow I buy, maybe tomorrow they run out and I can quit looking.

If I didn't have some 6.8' already I'd have jumped on the Grendel.
Too close alike to make the switch and my 68's have yet to disappoint.
Hard to skip the hype though.

Ordered mine 3/4 and picked it up at my FFL 3/9. Already had a grendel in a radical that I've really liked, looking forward to getting the new 7.62 x 39 to the range as well!

So between all of my coworkers and family I've personally inspected about 12 of these rifles. For 399 I didn't have high expectations. They are price point rifles and I don't think Radical puts a lot of QC into these before they leave the factory, instead the buyer is the QC.

Almost every rifle had a different crush washer on the flash hider. They had different finishes, one even had shims instead of a crush washer and about half were canted by about 20 degrees.

Some rifles had an ambi safety and others had a single side safety, even though they were the same sku #.

Receiver end plates had different finishes, some were parkerized, some looked like they were painted or anodized.

Another weird thing I noticed is none of the barrels had the caliber marked.

My advice is this definitely shouldn't be you primary HD gun unless you put plenty of rounds down range and really look it over. For something to keep in the truck or on the tractor I say they are perfectly fine.

I showed up at Radicals shop and asked them to swap out the charging handle and I was out in 10 minutes. I'm in the Houston area, so I leaned toward this for a cheap rifle and if it had any issues I knew I could warranty it easily.

Thanks for the update.
It's an AR, if it don't run right I'll throw parts at it till it does.
If I ever get around to unboxing it

My last order from KYG arrived in about 2 weeks.

A friend has a radical in 5.56 and I've shot it. It looks and shoots about like you'd expect a budget AR. Seems to cycle fine. I'd drop $400 on one if you just want something to plink with.

I bought a Radical upper in .223/5.56 a few years ago for a plinker for my Grendal's lower. Quite a few hundreds of rounds and nary a hiccup!

Just shot mine today, real quick sight in for a pig hunt this afternoon. 20 rounds down the tube and can’t complain with accuracy. 5 shot groups were less than an inch at 50 yards. Was shooting suppressed and had no issues running. Solid first outing.

When I ordered a bull pup from them a few months ago the only email I received was saying it had been delivered to my FFL.

Coker-
My Armalite Rilfe thinks it's where the AR came from, but I get what you're sayin. Merica
