    Texas Donuts

Well, I found a recipe on TikTok and decided I should heavily modify it and rename it. Making this for the first time so we will find out if it is good or not together.

I am betting it is dang good.

Getchya two onions. Cut off the ends. Depending on how tall they are, cut them into 1/2" to 3/4" slices, pic below for reference. Match two slices up so there is room between them for some hamburger meat.

Take two lbs hamburger and mix in two eggs and your favorite hamburger seasoning. For me I used Rich's beef rub, aka Graysonhogs. It's **** good. Mix together.

Now pack the meat in between the onion rings.

You probably know the next ingredient, bacon. Wrap bacon around each one, forming the donut.

I had 10 onion rings, and a lbs of bacon was only enough for 8. So I took the remaining lbs of hamburger and encapsulated my other two in that.

Already went a little off course but here is the major modification. Brush on the bbq sauce all the way around. Personally my favorite is JR Okie Smokie, but it is only sold as far south as Norman, Ok, and I believe a few places in the far North panhandle near Pampa.

The all hamburger got more of Rich's seasoning, while the donuts got something brown sugar based, since these are donuts after all. i went with voodoo from Meat church.

I’m cautiously optimistic. All the ingredients are there for a feast. Let’s see it.

We have a new pope everyone! Oh sorry just my traeger.

Got the grill set up. Will smoke at 180 for about 45 minutes, then crank her up to 325 for 20. That is what I have found to be the best for poppers.
