    What to do in Austin?

Wife and I taking a long weekend trip to Austin around July 16 as we are kidless that weekend. I've never been and it's been many years for her.

What are must do's, must eats, and nice places to stay?

We plan to do one night of the bar scene on Rainey for a little while (heard better and cleaner than 6th), but otherwise just wanting to see cool stuff around the area, eat really well, and maybe stay in a nice hotel/resort where it's nice enough if we want to hangout there and chill. Most all of this trip is paid for from a work award so not too worried about price of things .

Open to all ideas. Thanks for info!

    Matt

Ester Follies is a comedy club that does a show that's really funny. We have been a couple times. Not sure how covid has impacted it.

In what part of town will you be staying?

We were there recently for the State softball championships. I hadn't been there in years but frequented back in the day. Went sixth street for dinner and I actually opened my knife and held it in my pocket as I walked from our parking place to the restaurant. There was trash everywhere, homeless walking around like zombies, tents, etc. There was a large police presence although we found out that there was a mass shooting that night. Other than that, its a great place.

You can stay in a tent under a bridge and eat out of a dumpster. I hear that’s what a lot of people in Austin like doing.

Terry Black's BBQ is a must. Gus's Fry Chicken is pretty good to.

Eddie V's either location. Thank me later.

And yea 10 years ago I would have said 6th Street but not anymore. Human waste on the streets, people bugging you for money, it's exactly what a liberal city should look like.
