Nothing like having a pack of hunting and tracking cats!

            JK Mike !
You never know, but it will probably be awhile.

In 2019 I killed a buck on. November 9th. Last year I killed a buck on November 11th after missing one on November 4th.

Here are some real numbers from my journal from last year.

            October 19th thru December 3rd

            54 sits
            I saw 68 bucks and 78 doe
            I drew on two bucks
On my 23rd sit on November 4th I missed a buck.
On my 35th sit on November 11th I killed a buck.
I got skunked 11 times (saw zero deer on 11 sits)

I did 3 shotgun/rifle season hunts and 3 late season archery hunts that I forgot to record in my journal. I saw a few deer during those hunts also.

I had two archery buck tags. A statewide either sex tag and a landowners tag (farm tag).

As of ar as the deer sightings go.....I am sure I saw some of the deer listed multiple times as I recognized certain bucks and doe groups especially on our farm. I also saw many different bucks. I hunted over a large area (3-4 square miles) whick allowed to me to see different groups of deer.

I like journaling myself. Tells a lot from year to year and gives a little predictability with consistent trends.

Tell me and others about Iowa. You live in southeast part of the state and it looks like solid mature whitetail country. Are the other parts of the state better or worse as far as quality deer and have you hunted other zones prior to moving there? I have been hunting with friends in Kansas the last 15-16 years and know that it takes a couple of years to draw an Iowa tag. I think a muzzleloader hunt would be a neat thing.

I forgot about you getting two buck tags, go ahead and smack one.

In the tree for evening sit 3.

I am in a skinny pinch point between a cut corn field a green pasture, another cut corn field across the river and a cut beann field to my southwest. I have several beat down trails criss crossing under my set. I have a camera on a big scrape under the over hanging branch on the right in the first picture. I pulled the card it had 86 pictures. I will check that card and another scrape card I pulled across the road when I get back to the house tonight.

This place can be hit or miss. We will know soon.[emoji106]

Wind is ok for this set. Blowing out into the pasture although I have seen deer come from that way.
