Had a set of Vortex Diamondback I liked and the wife bought herself a Nikon Monarch 5 and it blew mine away. I eventually sold the Vortex and bought myself the Nikon, had a coupon or something that got the price down can't remember exactly.

I have/had Zeiss, Swarovski, and Leica - I like alpha glass.

On a whim I bought these 8x42 Cabelas brand Intensity bins and was blown away - $190 with a 10% off coupon. It’s hard to tell the difference between these and my 8x42 Leica Trinovid HD bins.

At the same time I ordered the highly acclaimed Vortex Diamondback HD and returned those immediately. Good luck.

Vortex and or Leupold, own both and are quality optics for the price range you listed.

Backfire TV rated the best binoculars under $250, and they selected the Leupold BX-2 Alpine. See below link for more details on the rankings.
