after enduring way too long, i'm going to get my rotator/spurs repaired next year. any great rec's that don't involve tons of traffic? i.e. austin/corpus/san anton/etc

i'm in victoria area. really don't want to deal w/houston traffic.(had great surgery experience at fondren's 12 yrs ago, so i'll prob. end up back there)

Dr. Ochoa in San Antonio fixed my shoulder up good. I will see if I can find more info on him as I don’t remember any more of the top of my head. He does shoulders and knees. He fixed up a buddy’s knee and did a good job on him as well.

Dr. Ralph “Bud” Curtis is an excellent shoulder surgeon. He fixed two of my sons and everyone else I know. Can’t go wrong with him.

My dad had his rotator done there in Victoria. Seemed to do a good job. Did it at that clinic by HEB off of Navarro, but I think he went through Citizens hospital

My daughter didn't require surgery after all, but she went to Dr. Curtis to diagnose the issue and then recommend treatment or surgery. I was told he is one of the best anywhere and that a lot of Major League teams and players use his services. Nice guy as well.

Whoever you use I would try to make sure the doctor specializes in shoulders and/or upper extremities. I know that Texas Orthopedic Hospital is top notch. My Dad just had knee replacement surgery there and the quality and level of care was amazing. I had my rotator cuff/bone spur surgery repaired by a general Orthopedic surgeon, and it was fine, but 20 years ago I didn't realize some Orthopedic surgeons specialize in certain bones/joints, which typically makes them more proficient, with hopefully better outcomes. Whatever you do, make sure you do your post-op exercise religiously if you want to regain full use of your arm/shoulder. I was warned by a friend, my surgeon, and physical therapist that I must do my therapy as prescribed, if not I would likely not return back to my pre-rotator cuff tear strength/ability. I was religous about doing my exercises, and my shoulder healed well, just doesn't handle heavy recoiling rifles like it did when I was younger. Could also be my age and loss of upper body strength, but I feel better blaming it on shoulder surgery. Good luck in your search, and remember it will most likely be an outpatient/day surgery event, so even if you have to drive to San Antonio or Houston, you should be home later the same day barring any complications.

I know you said you don't want to mess with Houston and I didn't either but I am glad I did..
Dr. Fullick came highly recommended by several friends.. He is a Shoulder specialist.. He did a complete reconstruction of my left shoulder(tendon repairs with anchors)back in April.. Top notch Dr and operation all the way around. He does surgerys laparoscoply versus cutting you open so your recovery time will be greatly reduced.. I give him 5 stars.

I pray you find a good doc. There’s a good one up here (UTSW) as well but you already have several suggestions closer.

I’m set to go to Fondren orthopedic in January. Doctor Warnock. Is that who you used?

I had a torn labrium in my right & left shoulder, got them both repaired down in Houston at the Fondren Orthopedic Group. Would highly recommend taking a look at them.

My buddy just had his rotator cuff surgery done back in October by Dr. Ralph Curtis. His experience has been good so far.

If you don't want to travel look up Dr Perez in Victoria. He did both my knee replacements. He also rebuilt my SIL shoulder and elbow after she shattered them he is an excellent ortho doc.
