The American bald eagle is everywhere in this great state now. If there is a significant body of water, they are likely nearby. Friday, I hit the north end of Lake Conroe and then to the Woodlands to their urban nest. The eagles in the Woodlands rebuilt their former, more accessible nest this year. I will be hitting Lake Somerville in the next few weeks. There is a nest here in Brazos Co. as well and it turns out my former pastor can get me close. Anyway, a few pics from this month.
Looks like a single eaglet in the Woodlands this year. Exercising its wings.
Mom and dad, dad has the dark spots on the head. Mom is talking to dad.
Lake Conroe, north end. New territory for me. There is a nesting pair near the location. We camped there 2 weeks ago and in one spot I saw 6 different eagles, 4 different aged juveniles.
Across the lake at a great distance but you have to click the camera when this is witnessed. Juvenile eagle not welcomed by the adult.
