Default Who set OH Ivie on fire this week?

Hearing the largemouth record was busted with a 16.40 lb and the smallie record has been busted maybe three times with week with a 6.25#, 6.6# & 6.8# (the 6+ may be the same fish, can’t tell for sure)

Seems like last weeks cold put the fish in hyper gear!

Correct me if I am wrong, but it spit out two more share-a-lunkers in the 13s and a 12.4 as well....after the 16+.

Yes on the 13, had not heard about the 12.4. And there was a 5.8ish smallie early in the week that held the lake record for a hot minute before the 6’s started getting reeled in

I know where a lot of people will be heading now!

That’s some big numbers!

My PB largemouth is 14#. I couldn’t imagine a 16#+!

Pretty sure linker program is 13lbs and up so a 12.4 wouldn’t make the program.

Ivie can be exceptional. Honestly if a fella just repeatedly fished a few community holes, a big one would turn up. It's really spot-specific though, not a lake you can just junk fish and find them. My PB out of there is 8.81.

A Josh Jones caught a 13+ also. Caught a 10.5 same day. He's a social media fisherman and I believe he caught 2-11lbers the following day. He focuses on big bass throwing swimbait and also uses live scope a lot which I don't know if it played a role in these fish or not. Still got to be able to catch them though.

Honestly a yak on that lake right now (or in a few weeks when they start spawning) is a brilliant idea with all the new water to fish.

What’s all the new water from? Don’t think it was particularly wet down there or upstream?

Most of it came end of 2018 and then some more mid 2019. Went from 1505 to mid 1540's and holding fairly steady since.

About like Falcon 10-12 years ago. Filled up. Then 3-4 years later the fish hammering began.

This lake has been producing big bass for awhile now. Maybe not to this level lately. This lake has been crowded for while. I went several times last year and elm creek boat ramp was jammed packed every time.

Uhhh, you can do that now. Thats what they're doing targeting open water suspended fish over deep water with front facing live sonar, the new tech is bonkers. Jump to 4min mark, then 5 min mark

They added a second one today. Casey Sobczak owner of 6th Sense Lures caught a 14.2 out of Ivie.

That makes 5 in the last week.

Incredible.

I use bass that size for crappie bait! I run a 15/0 hook through the bass's back, chunk-em out there and let them swim around till they swallow a crappie. Then real them back in and take the crappie out. Repeat as necessary till I get a limit of crappie.

There are a few different places that could be, but I'm guessing that hump along the river channel at the mouth of Elm Creek. Similar spots down by Gatlin Creek, the junkyard, and at the mouth of Turkey Bend. I'm telling you, spend time on the community holes.

I'd be out there doing it with them this weekend if I had the stuff.

I don't have a bass boat, and I don't care to have one. Just too many other hobbies. But I've still thought about getting one of the new fish finders to use in my kayak. I have no problem with folks using them. I'd love to catch a monster bass too. I don't think it's any different than any other kind of sight fishing that everybody does in shallow, clear water. It just gives you the ability to sight fish deep and/or murky water. Sight fishing is FUN. More like spot and stalk hunting rather than random spray and pray blind casting.
