Just put a really nice wide 8pt to bed. I’m heading down towards the river to look around and I’ll go back at lunch and see if there’s a way to set up on him. Gonna be a busy day.

About to take a quick shower and head in. Cip and I were planting a pop up on a field edge today and saw an 8 crowding 140 that almost got shot. He was bedded with a doe and didnít go far. Just below them was a short 4 10 in the low 150ís. Both are in the area Iím hunting locked up with a doe. That could be extremely dangerous.

1st deer if the day passed the test. She rolled up 15yds from the new pop up, stole one quick glance and started eating corn!

The field north of me is LOADED and has 3 big framed suckers in it. A southern migration might make things interesting.

Truck just came by and momentarily cleared the field. Everything is back including a very pretty long browed 2yo 8 to the south

It actually kind of sucked this evening... Lots of deer but nothing worth talking about except one really nice 8 that came in right by the new pop up. Cold front started pushing through about an hour ago. Tomorrow morning will be mediocre but it’ll start getting much better by tomorrow evening.

Front is pushing through, it’s 38į and gassing. The bow hunters are in place and I’m watching a field trying to dial in 1 more bow set. Several lease members in camp this weekend including Tito who claims he is blood thirsty!

EVERYONE saw good deer! The bow hunters had bow hunter stuff happen. The rifle hunters were right on the fringe of comfort. Being able to hold off on really good deer because you’re not absolutely certain is something that I definitely respect. Temps are still dropping and all day tomorrow should be good. Calling for some snow on Sunday. We’ll check in tomorrow.

I got after a big one this morning. Wind was absolutely perfect and he was in a place where I could use the hills to put the slip on him. I got to within 500 but would lose him when I got prone. He gave me the slip but it was definitely a fun hunt! Mrs. Cayci killed a stud 7+ year old 8pt, and Wes has Ol Dagger kicking up dirt! Pics coming in a bit.

I love when hunters roll into camp and can appreciate a giant mature buck for what he really is! Both of these deer were over 7 years old. Big bodied giant war horse deer!

Late getting in. The bow hunters wanted to call coyotes mid day so we gave that a go. Struck out on it but we’ll try again tomorrow. I’m actually sitting in a box stand and it feels kind of weird. I suspect Jake and Ryan will both let arrows go this evening.

Hunters dropped off and Iím parked on a field. I fully expect an early pick up request and I donít blame them! Itís snowing sideways and frigid cold. Jake actually requested to be put in a ladder stand that he hunted his first two hunts. This dude must eat grizzly bears for breakfast to turn down a tank style blind with a heater for a ladder stand in the edge of a field. Itís nasty and I donít expect much but weíre making the best of it.

We’re all settled in. Jake is running the virgin sit in this stand and Ryan is in the snow cone stand where I killed my buck last year in the snow. A repeat would be awesome.
