Default New build 243AI

Got my 243ai put together the other day and I must say itís a nice looking rifle! Iím excited to start load development.

Specs:
Savage 10 action
Timney trigger
26Ē 1:10 McGowan 243ai barrel finished at .900
Oryx chassis
Acis mags
20moa base
Currently a cheap primary arms 4-16x44
Sico ARS 3 stage brake with sico hybrid 46

Plan is to run 75gr-87gr vmax/Bergerís ect as fast as I can. Iíve seen promising velocity with non fire formed brass and room to go with the 75gr vmax I got 3565fps using H4350. Just ordered some lapua brass to fire form.

Geez! I thought barrel life was going to be terrible with my 243.

Good looking stick! Those 75 gr V-Max’s are potent!

Nice looking rifle! Hopefully you can get some tight groups with your velocity goal. Personally, I had much better groupings slowing mine down a bit.

Nice. I like the direction. I run two 6cms and a buddy runs a 243. I shoot 87v maxs in one and 95 bergers in the other. My buddy runs 75gr a maxs in his 243. They don’t move with any of the three. Ask Blake ^^^^ lol

My wife shoots 75gr vmax with a medium load in her 243 and it hammers deer.

We need details on this 17 hornet. I have been thinking about building one out since CZ discontinued the 527

Mine is a factory CZ527 varmint only thing Iíve done is had it threaded for a suppressor and develop a load using 11.4gr of cfe black and a 25gr Hornady hollow point.

insanely accurate, zero recoil, and very addictive
.... and you can load 635+ rds. from one pound of powder

I have a lot of nice custom rifles as my 17 Ackley Hornet is by far my favorite

So what does a 243 AI look like, compared to a 6mm Rem? I would think that a 243 AI would be pretty close to a 6mm Rem.

Pretty darn close!!! But factory ammo is readily available in a pinch, and match brass much easier to obtain.

There is always one that kills a great group. Not sure if I pulled it but I may have that was shot 4 that was low.

This was a 200 yard group from todayÖ of course I had no good data my chronograph took a crap and I left my pen at the houseÖ not sure what load this was but it was definitely 87gr vmax.

Iím to the point of I canít get lapua or alpha brass I donít want it. Lol

Iím a sucker for this 6mm build! Pretty much zero recoil. I know the 26Ē barrel and suppressor helps a lot With that.

I’m getting 3850 with superformance and a 70 grain blitzking out of my 243ai with a 22” 1-14 twist tube. She’s a thumper.

I coyote hunt with a .243 win shooting 58gr a-max. Very accurate and extremely deadly on the dogs. Big fan of .243’s!

Invest in a hydro form set to make brass and sa e your barrel! I did for 280AI and love it.
