Memphis TN Long Weekend Must Do/See?

My wife and I along with another couple our best friends, are headed to Memphis for a long weekend vacation in March.

I know Covid will minimize what we can do but we will make the best of it.

We are staying two blocks off Beale Street.

Let’s hear the food and fun recommendations!

I love Memphis. Graceland is a must. Do the VIP tour. Beale Street is just fun. Seems BB Kings and Blues City Cafe always have the best Music. The Bass Pro is just sick. Go spend a morning at the Civil Rights Museum and then have lunch at Central BBQ. Great BBQ

One of the first things we did when we got there was to stop at the Memphis Visitor Center at 3205 Elvis Presley Blvd. An older gentleman in there gave us some excellent suggestions that included BPS and driving by Graceland just to say we saw it. I was never a huge Elvis fan, but you might be, so if you are, by all means make it a part of your trip. Melissa Cookston is a BBQ pitmaster who has appeared on those BBQing shows. She owns Memphis Barbecue Company in Horn Lake, Mississippi. It's just across the state line. If you're looking for the best Memphis BBQ, this is it. We bought a bottle of her spices when we ate there last year, and sadly it's almost gone. We also ate at Central BBQ Downtown in Memphis. It was good, but not even close to Memphis Barbecue Co. Central BBQ was real close to the Lorraine Motel & the Civil Rights Museum which I understand is very good. We didn't have time to go there though.

Few things I haven’t seen mentioned..Mud Island is pretty cool. It’s all about the history of the Mississippi River. You can check out the hotel where MLK was shot. There are some casinos south of town that are fun to visit.
