    The perfect shotgun brush load?

Y’all some of you know, my passion is casting buckshot and slugs. Been working on a load for deer and hog hunting in heavy brush and I think I’m there.

First load is two .60 cal lead balls (around 330gr a ball) loaded in a steel shot wad in a 3” hull. The avg velocity was around 1180fps.

At 50 yards through a mod choke yielded a pattern of 2-3”:

    He

    Here’s the pressure testing results:

Next up is three .60 cal balls. 50 yard patterning testing is around 7-8”. I’m sure I can shrink that down, but I’m happy with that. Velocity was a hair under 1000 fps that’s plenty to kill anything in North America with 50 yards:

This should good for hunting thick brush. If anyone’s interested in duplicating this load, let me know.

    Happy hunting!

Those should really work well on pigs and deer!

      Nice work!

That load would definitely seem to be deadly in brush

Here’s the tri-ball load in 3” hulls. 3.5” is ideal due to case capacity.

                  Those will work!

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go!

Have you ever loaded up shells with buckshot topped with a ball or slug? I think something like that would be a good round for thick brush. Especially in 3 1/2" where you could load more buckshot to increase your chances of hitting a running hog in the thick stuff.

Like this? The problem is, your pattern starts to blow out past 10-15 yards.

I just thought back to the PDX1 loads. 15 yards ain't very good. I'd have thought with the smaller sized shot it'd pattern better than that.

Nice work..... I'm not so interested in the slug game, but would def. like to learn how to load some good buck shot, as well as some good TSS Turkey loads. WHat do you use to roll crimp ???
