The ease of the pellet grill is why I love it.
I still prefer the smoke flavor of the stick burner, but it sure is nice being able to throw a brisket on the 700 at 10 and not worrying about it till morning.
Rumor has it Smart, "mr stickburner only a-hole" has been eyeing these due to their bark production..... [emoji23][emoji23]
I’d recommend it. You’ll never quite get the smoke of a stick burner, but the ease of use of them far surpasses the slight taste difference. Before long, you’ll even have one at the deer lease! (Blasphemy, I know, but don’t ask me how I know!)
Pretty dang simple and only my 5th brisket ever.
14lb prime brisket from HEB $2.99/lb
Trimmed the excess fat and dried with a paper towel.
Rub was just kosher salt, pepper, granulated garlic and granulated onion.
225 until it hit 175 and (about 8 hours) then bumped it to 250 until it hit 203(another 3-4 hours).
I didn’t bother wrapping this one during or after the cook and it turned out great.. My previous attempts included wrapping at the stall and putting it in a cooler after the cook for a few hours and none of those turned out this good.
If you are considering getting a rectec then just do it! Best purchase I have made in years!
I have really enjoyed my RecTeq. So far I have only done steaks. But I love the low smoke method then turn that baby up, add the sear plates and finish off with a good sear.
