First buck was 10 in this photo. Shot him that year, he scored 172 if you can believe it. Second buck was at minimum 12 in this pic. He busted all to hell that season and I shot him **** near as a spike. Third guy was only 8 but he got some sort of infection we guessed and BALLOONED up. Lasted that way for probably 2 month and then he vanished. Never found him.

This one should have been dead the year before, I was tagged out on bucks and had a guest hunting with me that “didn’t care about horns” until I told him to shoot this guy, who had a broken left beam that year…suddenly the guy cared about horns.
Stuff like that eats me up.

Cool thread. Here's one of my all time favorites.
End of December. LaSalle county. I was guiding a hunter in when this deer stepped out. Guy wasn't really a hunter, just along for the corporate trip. Begged him to shoot this deer but he wouldn't because he hadn't killed whatever they paid for him to kill yet and he didn't want to mess up his chances at that or a hog coming out. Buck was never killed.

A few years back in Frio County. Weekend rules were does only. Of course this guy stepped out. When I shared pics I was asked why I didn't shoot it. Nuts!!
