Finding real estate comps.

How do I go about finding local comps without a realtor? I’m assuming recent sales are public knowledge, but haven’t been able to find a place to see. We are thinking of selling some family land but don’t want to have to commit to a realtor just to see what it’s worth. Thanks all.

You can see the asking price for properties for sale, but is seems on the major listing services the histories and prices that the properties actually sold for are usually not public

That info is not public as Texas is a Non-disclosure state. The public can easily see asking prices, but those can vary drastically from sold prices.

I would hire an apprasal company to valuate it, then compare it to asking prices. They are only a few hundred bucks.

Most Realtors will do it for you and A LOT of times for free.
