Season is Near…Let’s Practice - What Happened Here?

Archery season will be here before we know it and there will be those who make shots that if there were a caption above their head, it would read…”???” So let’s practice a little bit of what the eye sees versus what really happened.

Here’s one from last night that definitely had me questioning what I had done. It was dark. Much darker that what you see in the video. My guess before reviewing footage was it’s too far forward for a quartering away shot. Upon review, I thought the same.

So, what do your eyes see? Forward? Back? Perfect? Still Running? Down in 50?
Good blood? Little blood? No blood? Any other observations?

To me it looks like a good double lung, stuck the inside of the ribcage shot. I would say minimal blood and down inside 40 yards.

Hard to shoot them too far forward. I think that one is dead close by.

I think you got leg bone

Definitely does not look like much penetration given the lighted nock bobbing around by back leg

I think it got in there plenty, and nice and low should bleed good. I'm gonna say fair to good blood, down in 65.
