The first time I ever saw him was on tv after church one Sunday. In the pre fight show they showed him in an interview. He said that on the street he was a regular nice guy, but in the ring he looked at his opponent as if he were trying to take food out of his baby's mouth.
When the opening bell sounded Hagler flew across the ring and lit into the other fighter in a fury of punches. I was instantly hooked as a lifelong fan of his and he remains my all time favorite middle weight boxer. I hated seeing him fall to the likes of Leonard and Hearns, as I always saw Hagler as the better man. The article in the link below states some great facts & stats on the man.
Hagler was one of the best fighters of his generations and considered one of the 'Four Kings' of the 1980s

I saw something like that too. I would guess that IF it is true and had something to do with the vaccine, it will be buried very deep and most will never know.
That fight with him and Hearns was just about the best I’ve ever seen.
