Salt boat works has a page on Facebook for builders too. Bunch of guys sharing their tips and tricks for the builds. A lot of cool stuff on there.

I will post pictures later but today I am going to be installing a Micro PowerPole, stainless prop, and snag-free push pole mounts. For the moment I am going to run the PowerPole wires over and into the dry box/cooler seat with a little battery until the power pack and charger arrives. At first the plan was to run the wires through the chase tube and connect to the starting battery but the more I thought about it the less I wanted to. Going with the pack should make for a nice, clean install and not add much weight.

Snagless push pole mounts, check. Micro PowerPole mounted, check though I will remove the wires when the rechargeable battery pack arrives. Last but certainly not least the stainless Solas prop has been installed. Now I wait for prettier weather tomorrow.

Just started reading your journey this morning and couldnít put it down! Skipjack is an amazing boat and no doubt will allow you to put a lot of fish in the cooler. Iím ready to see your final numbers with that 15 and a skinny water video.

Thank you. Today she hit 24.2mph at WOT on the way to my redfish hole. Saw some bait popping on the way and shut her down. Oversized reds were stacked on top of each other in about 3í of water. After boating a couple I was done.

Thatís a big girl sitting at 33Ē. 24 mph is fast enough. What does your hole shot depth looking at since you donít have a tunnel?

Iíve went from floating to on plane in 6Ē of water in less than a boat length. With the design and weight of this hull a tunnel isnít needed.

Brazos Hunter, my brother has been looking at building one of these boats, what would you say the overall cost of building one is? would you recommend building one vs. buying a ready to use boat?

I built my hull for $5k. Today you could easily double or triple that based on material costs. I would build it again in a heartbeat vs buying a boat off the showroom floor.

I was finally able to score a new outboard! New to me anyway.

I would a guy online that had a 2019 Tohatsu 20hp long shaft for sale with just under 10hrs on it. Just so happened he was literally 20 miles away so I jumped on it. We really wanted the short shaft but for the price, I rebuilt the diy jackplate. Solo I got her to 28 with throttle to go and backed off. Now I cruise half throttle doing 20mph solo and 3/4 with another adult! The fuel consumption (or lack of) is the best part. With a buddy onboard we went a total of 38 miles doing 20mph and only burned through 1 3/4 gallons of gas!!!

I deleted crapatalk or I would update pictures.

My hat is off to you Michael. That is an amazing achievement and you are right, you can really be proud of home building this. I can see where every single fish would mean more. I neither have the time or the talent to build one, but I sure wish I did. Maybe some day I will find the plans and patterns for a Haynie 25' Magnum and the ability to build it!
