    Barnes 70 grain Triple Shock

Anybody shooting these bullets for deer hunting? Found a box of 50 deep in my reloading stuff and think I am about to load up some using IMR 4166.

My son shot a 10 point w/ the 50 grain out of a 22-250 last year. No blood trail but it was down in 40 yards. Between 3 of us and the deer no one knew if it was hit or not. No surprise but it smoked a turkey last year also and a it took a texas dall ram out after one just above the spine and one to the gut. It only stood around then flopped over backwards.

High shoulder is the only shot I'd take with them. Behind the shoulder and you may or may not find them. I know it's apples and oranges but my son shot 4 hogs in thick stuff and we found them the next days with the help of coyotes and buzzards.

They're very long for caliber. Check the required twist rate. Many guns won't stabilize them.

I would be concerned with lack of expansion in a .223/5.56.

I shoot them in my 22-250 Ackley but my muzzle velocity is 3500fps.
