South Padre fishing

Headed to South Padre Thursday. I’m looking for advice and feedback on where and what to fish with. Will not have access to boat. Surf fishing, bay fishing and am also curious how far I can drive up the beach and curious about where East cut is?

Any thoughts on this recent storm that moved through, hot spots would be a appreciated.

Whitings, hardheads, and jacks are pretty easy to catch along the surf on Fish Bites. We rig it with a fairly heavy weight a couple of feet ahead of the hook.

Jacks can be caught around the deeper sand bars with silver spoon-type lures.

Or jetties with live shrimp under cork.

Beach is about 26 miles from beach access 6 to East cut.

Not sure about driving conditions after this last storm. Maybe one if the locals can respond.
