Congrats Justin. I was hoping to get out a couple times this last week but I caught the lung crud and had to stay home. Tried to go shoot my bow today and could only manage a few shots before I got winded. Guess I'm not well yet.

Any good honest hunters out at the Steiner Ranch area? Have been hunting Public Land with Pepper now for a year and over all I love it. But have recently had some issues! Message me

Default PSE Crossbow

Anyone out there had trouble with a PSE crossbow? I have a PSE Fang HD that i have had nothing but trouble with! Just curious if anyone else has had issue or if its just my bad luck? The right limb has busted twice after being cocked between an hour and an hour and a half, just when i thought we finally got that fixed, the very next hunt the string snapped! I just got this bow in May and have shot it maybe 20 time lol... I dont get it!

PSE had a lot of trouble with the TAC when they released it. But kept selling them anyway.

The fish are biting and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go!

Ive seen some recalls, but not for the Fang HD 405fps.... Craziest thing, the right limb snapped after a little over an hour, took it to the bow shop, they replaced the limbs and necessary parts. Very first hunt after getting it back, same thing, same limb... now the string? I guess its just my bad luck, par for the season i suppose.

I was hoping to make the last two weekends of duck season. Water muffed my OB last night. Started right up. But wasn't putting out water. Searched all over for the spare impeller. Couldn't find it. Ordered 3 last night. Now, it's a waiting game to see if they come in before the weekend. I need to get some more fish in the freezer too, for Bownanza. Will have the Livescope up and running after duck. Hopfully, we get some great rains soon! And get the water flowing!

Hope you get out Mike. I've about called this season. Not a good one for me with one bright exception. I may sneak out one more time but I've got 3d starting up and two hog hunts in Feb / Apr.

I may try to take the duck boat up the Brazos in search of whites and crappie. I guess the whites will start up this coming month (in bigger numbers). I always seem to arrive late to that party. Crappie will be, what, March?

White usually starts in Feb. Look for slightly warmer days when the river has a slight current. From there, it could run into late April, pending water flow and temps. Crappie will be right behind. And sometimes in with them towards the end. You can also find them schooled up and stacked up pre spawn run staging in holes and on river channel ledges. Bigger cats will do the same thing. You can see them on the graph if your side-scan is properly tuned. They don't bunch up as tight as smaller fish

The fish are biting and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go!

Anyone have any tips for hogs out a Whitney? Seen plenty of sign up by Steiner Valley but never seen anything but does out there.

They are in all units. Some more, some less. It's not like Granger. You just have to get out there and feed them all the time. Then hunt. They will eventually come during daylight hours. B6 seems to kill a few. So does A lake.

It was rough, windy, wet, and I was a little under dressed today. But finally got back to the ramp safely around 2PM. Then the wind laid. And the rain stopped, before I left the ramp at 3PM.

We were after ducks. Only saw 4 flights. Only 1 gave a look from 70 yards out. Wind was a steady 22+ at one point after 9AM, a couple times. And gust got up to 30. It started white capping each time. We spent an hour trying to get my boat unstuck from the bank. I had anchor out and motor tilted/staked down in the mud to keep it from moving. And it still got blown up into the shallow water. Skeg left a good trail.

Weather forecast I had wasn't supposed to do that. Or I wouldn't have gone.

The fish are biting and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go!

At least you got out and back. Time for white bass and crappie now, assuming we have any water. I'm thinking I'll run up the Brazos above Granbury and see what's up there about the middle of February.

Yep.

It's just close. If I don't find anything down there I'll probably put in somewhere between GB and Whitney. Maybe use the kayak...assuming I can get my fat rear end in it without sinking.

W lake has been holding 6-3/4 to 7 foot low for a while now. No water to release up stream. But PK still might a couple times to wash the river out. And promote "natural occurrences". The Trinity River system is in better shape than the Brazos or Colorado. We need some rain and run-off bad, still. Or there's not going to be a sandie run in the Brazos or Nolen. Whole state needs it.

Looks like the W lake has come up a little over an inch in the last 24 hours. A lake has come up tad over 3". We still need a whole lot more. Maybe this next storm system will bring us more.

On another note, I drove over Mustang Creek bridge on Hwy 1187 on my way home today. You couldn't see bottom anywhere. Checked the Benbrook lake level. And it has come up almost a foot in the last 24 hours. I expect it to come up a bit more. More ramps should be usable now at 3.13 foot low.

Mike, I got a wee bit over 2 “ of rain at my house.

The back 40 is standing in water. Wish it would drain down south.

A lake has come up a bit to 4.78 ft below normal.

Weather forecast shows possibility of some rain for Tues. Hope we get it where we need it most.

I was out there this afternoon and evening. 7 crappie and a needle-nose gar. Missed a few crappie. Hooked a big striper. But the lil Aberdeen hook wasn't strong enough to hold it. Crappie came on minners. I chunked jigs the whole time. But never got a bite on them.

I had the exact same thought. If its not too windy (always seems like a hurricane on BB), I'll be out on the kayak. Might run into you

Got out to Pat Cleburn Tuesday. We only caught 5 sand bass.
would not hit spinners. Did not have minnows so I used small swim baits.
