    Marking caught fish

    Catching same size fish out of our pond and we release all of them but looking for a way to mark them so we know they been caught.

          You can buy fish tags online. Pretty cheap. Come with a gun. Like the kind they mark redfish with for CCA. Behind or nest to the dorsal area.
          Just buy the appropriate size tag. Like 100 tags and gun for 30 bux.

          Then you can log the weight and length by the tag #. See how the progress is coming along.

            I'd suggest talking to TP&W Fisheries Division on fish tags. They could prob send you in the right direction for acquiring them. Also, look up "Fish tags" or "tagging fish" on youtube.


            Years ago, there used to be a state wide crappie tournament where if you caught one of the tagged crappie, it would put you in some money. Many of the tagged fish were released in various lakes across Texas. Tagging fish is still a common thing today for fisheries study purposes.
