He played some great roles. I always wondered how his agent pitched that Deliverance part to him. “Hey it’s a great adventure with story Burt Reynolds, it will be a great part for you. There is this one scene though…”
Saw an interview with him one time and he stated that he regretted that role the rest of his career. Could never live it down.

Outside of Deliverance, I always remembered him playing the Dean in the Rodney Dangerfield flick Back to School. He also played Rudy's father in Rudy and as mentioned Otis in first 2 Superman movies with Christopher Reeve and Gene Hackman.
I read that the "squeal like a pig" scene was not in the script. It just kinda developed while shooting the movie. I always found that the development of an unplanned famous scene to be interesting.
