the biggest issue really is the cp4 going bang on you and wrecking the fuel system $$$... Hard to predict though, it may never happen.

Getting rid of the DPF and DEF emission bs that causes future issues.

Mine was on the lower end of that with the switch on the fly tunes.

                    How common is cp4 failure?
                    Epic Fails

While supplying high-pressure fuel is an injection pump's job, the CP4 does so with a high probability of failing (typically around the 100,000-mile mark) and leaving owners with a need to overhaul their truck's entire fuel system, at a cost that can be anywhere between $8,000 and $10,000

Judging by this thread, I would say that's BS.

Tons of high mileage CP4s running around. As with everything and especially with Facebook Groups and Forums... The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

It’s more common that it should be. My friend at work has a 2016, bought it brand new, only fuels at buccees, changes filters every 15k, cp4 exploded last month and wrecked the fuel system. Also, my father in law owns a diesel shop, unfortunately it happens more than it should. It’s certainly not a guarantee that it will happen but if you plan to buy one out of warranty, make sure you have 10k sitting around just in case.

I know tons of people with dodge rams and have never heard of any injection pump failures, just bought a 2020 so hoping this is BS. 2012 I had never a problem with 210,000 gave it to farm hand still running strong.

The 6.7 is a great motor! I only have 40k on my 15 and it's deleted but by far my most favorite diesel to date. And ive had A LOT of them.
