I have made several trips out there and hiked most of the major trails and driven some of the 4wd trails. It's great. Big Bend Ranch just to the west is great too. Go and spend at least a week.

Nice! I tried night pics in big bend a couple summers ago, but the Milky Way wasn't out.
What lens did you use for the night sky photo? and how long exposure? Did you just use a tripod or do you have a tracker?

Just a tripod, and I think these were mostly shot on a cheap Rokinon 14mm 2.8 lens. Can't recall on shutter speed, but probably in the 15-25 second range. I always go in the winter because I can't stand that summer heat, and we get some decent shots right before dawn light starts blotting out the stars.
