I looked in the recipe section and didnt see much there. Anyone have a bang up recipe for dill pickles? First year to plant some cucumbers specifically for this and they are starting to produce. I dont care for pickles that are sweet, overly spicey or overly sour. TIA!

Passed down family recipe that’s pretty tasty and easy to remember
(From memory)
*Scrub and wash cucumbers. Soak cucumbers in water overnight or longer.
*1 quart white vinegar to 3 quarts water-bring to rolling boil
*1 cup fine pickling salt to every 4 quarts of liquid. Add salt to boil and stir
*Stuff mason jars with cucumbers of varying sizes. We put one clove of elephant garlic in bottom of jar and one healthy size sprig of fresh dill. Stuff cucumbers in as tight as can get and fill in all spaces. You should be able to upend the jar and nothing should move.
*get lids going in boiling hot water.
*top off the jars with boiling hot brine.
*wipe mouths of jars of any spilt brine and put on lids and bands tight
*water Bath all jars in boiling water for a half hour.
*remove to counter and cover with towel to cool.
Usually after two-three weeks they are already brined and pickled.
Optional ingredients-we add sliced jalapeños in with the garlic but be sure to mark them as such. adds a little jalapeño touch to the garlic dill taste.
My family put up 50-60 quarts a year and they usually don’t last a year after all siblings get their share.
