Was fortunate enough to stick this buck Friday evening. He showed up Wednesday and I couldn’t recall any history. First few pics I got of him I figured he was young. Watched him a couple days and decided Friday morning I’d go sit and see if he showed to get a better look. Couldn’t make it to the bow stand so I sat back 150yds from the food plot. Sure enough he came out and he looked older and run down from rut. I decided I would sit that evening with my bow and see what happened. 5:30pm I was gathering my things and looked to my left to see him standing 40yds nose in the air down wind of me. He walked straight at me and turned broadside presenting a 15 yd shot off the trail. I settled the pin and watched the arrow rip through his shoulder in a split second. He ended up crashing 50-60 yds.
This whole time my oldest son was 150yds away and he says he knew when I shot him. Heard the arrow hit echo and the deer crash.
Nowhere near the bruiser I was after this season but it’s been a season to remember and I’m thankful! Great East Tx buck with a bow and freezers are officially full!
Scored 123 5/8”
Latest in season I have ever taken a buck with a bow. Great feeling!
