    Speckled trout in the Surf

Where on the coast can I wade fish for Speckled trout? I'm down in Houston/Galveston for a few days... I do NOT have access to a boat

    Anywhere that has a beach.

In the surf, anywhere. Water temp is still a little cool for trout. 72° seems to be the magic temp for the time the surf turns on.

Wrong time of year for the bacteria and in the surf isnt where it is usually contracted

Like said above. Tx City Dike. First reef when driving out on left side.

                  Do you wade that area?

Yes, I grew up wading that reef. Very easy to get to. You can see it from the Dyke road. Or at least that last time I went down there you could. Its been a while.

Yep. I have in the past when i lived in the area. I would usually stay within 300 yards of dike

It's easy to find, look for all the people. It's well known. There's seaweed in the surf so trout are not far behind.

Please at least take a life jacket if you don’t want to wear it on that reef. Those rogue ship waves can be dangerous.

You can go to Offats around by the airport and wade the grass line. Or just east of the pier in Sea Isle. One more is Galveston Island State Park, you can wade the bay back there also.
