Butter, avocado, wild meat.... Good stuff. Chili lime seasoning on the avocado sauteed in butter while the duck was resting. That's good eating.

We saw a bunch of hoodies too, but I didn't kill one. Are they decent eating? Divers typically aren't.

Duck unted many years, lots of people like to hunt mallards but to me they are quite musky tasting. Best tasting ducks in my opinion:
                    1. Mexican whistlers aka tree ducks
                    2. Teal
                    3. Wood duck
                    4. Gadwall
                    5. Pintail
                    6. Mallard

Like said above roast them, finish off in a bed of wild rice or oyster dressing
Very good bacon, jalapeno, cream cheese and grilled
Best gumbo ever is wood duck and sausage

Like I said, they go on the smoker, same as woodies . Lil seasoning on the outside. And hoodies are skinless. I find them not near the same as the other mergs. Other mergs go in the gumbo, same as the ringnecks. Or ground for duck boudin with few other divers.

Edit: Almost forgot, congrats on get-n a few woodies.

Don’t discount Coot! They are awesome. Thought a guy was joking when he brought some to the deer camp. They were really good.
