Made a 1/4 ounce crankbait out of balsa wood. It has a one piece through wire for the hooks and tow eye. I also added an internal rattle on this one. Balsa is very easy to work with but it's too soft for screw in eyes, you have to make two halves and put the wire in between. I'm going to dare a redfish to tear it up.

Solid!!! Any idea on avg depth when cranking on it?

Will it float when you stop feeling? Or sink? Love those square bill crank baits for redfish.

It dives 2-3’ and it’s a floater. Tuned it and threw it yesterday and only got a rat red on it. It’s already too windy to sight fish this morning. I’ll be making a few more of these, they work pretty good.

I liked the first balsa crankbait so much I made a couple more. These cast and wobble great. Should have a red or two on em soon.

Working on a big crank bait for reds. It's 3 3/4" and will weigh about a 1/2 ounce. It'll have a loud internal rattle and dive 1-2'. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow.

This is the internal wire harness and rattle. I put an aluminum disc on the sides of the rattle chamber to make it louder, it's loud. I'll add lead to the bigger holes below.

This gives a little size comparison to the others I did. It's quite a bit bigger. I'm looking for a dive depth of about 1-2'.

I took it to the pond and got it tuned and running straight. It has a nice wide wobble and the rattle can be heard as it moving. I can hold my rod high and wake it, it has a hard float but I think I can probably get it down to about 3 feet. Turned out like I hoped. It’s a big fat crank bait for sure.

Threw the big crank bait at some reds yesterday, they wanted to play volleyball with it instead of biting it. Had a few knock it in the air but didn't stick. Maybe next time.

Pretty cool, reds would love those frogs. I catch more bass on the ribbon tail worms than any other lure I make. Nice work.

Yea the worms are my go to as well. I have lots of people request Senkos and swear by them but I don't fish them much. I got A LOT of molds right now.

Made a couple of the big crank baits this week. Yesterday the reds just wouldn't commit to it. Hopefully this weekend I'll seal the deal.

Started a new lure. Going with a slow sinking twitch bait. Started with some balsa wood and did a through wire harness. Did a little carving on this one.

All ready to go. The weight of the hooks gave it a really slow sink rate. I'm hoping to try it out this weekend.

Worked up a new color last night. I was after something shrimpy looking. The past couple months natural/clear lures have performed better. This is pearl powders and hi lites with a drop of black and a drop of white. I'll give them a try soon.

I had the time today to finish these two. They're made from maple burl. I filled the voids with clear epoxy and used wood dowels with the edges burned for the eyes. I put a little glitter in the top coat to make em a little sparkly.
