It's my understanding that they were removed from the list.

It's crazy just how many of those things are in the woods when all you hear is how rare they are. Just get to the first ridge out of a river bottom and they are there.

It’s only because I once stayed in a Marriott and a Holiday Inn that qualifies me to reply to this thread and only on a Tuesday. Might even stretch it to Wednesday. Maybe.

They were removed from the protected list on March 30, 2020. You can look up Texas Administrative Code 65.175 and download the list, you'll see that Timbers and Indigos are no longer on the list.

Good to know if I need to kill one

Did not feel need to kill this one, about as far from my house as it could be and not being aggressive. I passed within inches of it with 4 wheeler tire and don't think it even moved, just happened to see it

The guys around Sulphur Springs claim they’ve never seen a rattlesnake in Hopkins County and that they doubt there are any. I never felt the latter was true.

Always thought timber rattlesnakes are cool. Maybe because the one on the "Dont Tread on Me” flag looks so awesome!

Far as I know it is illegal to kill them in Texas
The proverbial "girl", could have said "it" .

It's also illegal to take the tag off your mattress. Be careful out there! Lol

Back in the late eighties and early nineties I built several drill sites in Lake Fork Creek bottom E of the Lindale/Mineola area. We saw several large specimens during that time. One of the biggest ones was crawling across a location about quitting time one day. I’d say he was a five footer without measuring.
