If your son can't tolerate the cold or it doesn't happen fast enough, look at hunting later in AM. Some of the best calling action can be later in the morning or afternoon after hens have separated to go nest.

This right here!! I’ve shot plenty of birds 11-1 right where I was calling for them in the morning. They go do their thing with a hen and then come back looking for the new hen (you)!
