Been wanting to make a set of boards for a while now and picked up a sheet of cabinet grade plywood some time back. Finally decided to get after it.
I decided to burn the top to bring out the wood grain more and add a bit more rustic look.
I found an American Flag pattern AutoCAD file online, scaled it appropriately and printed it out on the plotter at the office. This was the not so fun and very tedious part of cutting out each star with a scalpel.
After cutting each one I pulled off the extra painters tape. This is what you end up with before applying a gel stain.
Here is a photo of both boards after applying stain but before applying the urethane.
I applied 3 coats of urethane and sanding between them. Pretty happy with the way they came out.
