I think Mullen is gone. This is his 4th season and these are “his” players and all he’s done is decline. Way too much talent in that state for what he’s producing on the field.
Can’t can Sark. He needs 3-4 years minimum. Get the players in that want to play and fit his system then see what’s going on. If this does turn out to be the wrong hire (again), the meltdowns will be epic.

I think the fact that there are several big coaching jobs available and Florida doesn't want to compete with USC and LSU, then possibly OU when Lincoln leaves.
Not being immediately replaceable my be saving him until at least the offseason
Football (sports) are so weird. How does a coach do so much at a tiny school like Mississippi St, then goes to a place with all the resources and opportunities and falls on his ***.
That’s certainly plausible. If he makes it to next season, I think he’d be a lame duck or on a very short leash with a possible early season firing.
Could be the personalities of the kids that he can’t handle. Lower star talent at Mississippi State and you’d think less entitlement/attitude. Maybe he can’t teach/motivate those 4 and 5 stars, or maybe he just sucks, lol.

Because recruiting is like picking puppies. It is so hard. A coach falls in love with all the things that make these kids appear to be super stars. Then the kid gets to a school, misses home, his girlfriend, coaches demand and expect them to behave and go to class and produce on the field. That pressure can absolutely buckle some of these kids. They don't understand how it could be that they were the star in High School but in college everyone is just as good. and they buckle. You get a couple years of a recruiting classes not working like you thought and whammo, you suck as a coach. See Mack Brown, Bobby Bowden. Perfect examples. These coaches don't forget how to coach, they just miss on recruits and pipeline and they get fired for it. Unfortunately the days of a coach being somewhere for his career are long gone.

No we won’t. Those teams (Cinci, BYU, and Hou) are only ranked there because they play a weak competition week in and out. We would boat race all of those schools. Hell y’all would beat Houston.
