Pond scum - How to clean

Curious if anyone can help me out with the stuff in the pond pictured below. It's not slimy, but more so floating of the top of the water. What can I put in the pond to clear it up/out? How much $$$ am I looking at spending too?

Pond is located in Hunt County if that matters.

Cutrine plus will take care of it. Cost about $60 a gallon. If you have fish you don’t won’t to treat but a third at a time. The dying algae will deplete oxygen

I should mention that the pond is pretty small. The first picture shows the "far" bank with me standing on the other end.

Is this something a Tractor Supply type store would carry?

Yes. They should have that. Works great. Get you some tilapia in the next few weeks and toss in there as well. 5-8 lbs will work for that size pond

Thanks guys. Honestly not sure if it had fish in it yet or not, meant to take a rod with me today when I went out to fill a feeder but forgot. Hope to find out shortly.

I'd like to get some, too. Plus they are great eating.

Copper Sulfate Algaecide is what used last year. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It worked great, although mine wasn't quite as bad as your pics are. I used roughly a cup in about a 1/2 acre pond. It took about a week and I suddenly noticed the algae was gone one day.

Copper sulfate will do it but again, if there’s fish in there only do 1/2 to 1/3 at a time or you’ll kill them all off.

Bisch, I have stocked Mozanbique tilapia for 3 of the last 5 years. Normally 5lbs for a 3/4 arce pond. They die off if the water temp reaches below 50 degrees. I normally put them in here around march. They do a number on vegetation. No permit needed. Pay about $6/#. I buy them locally at the Bait Barn in Bryan. They do grow bass because they are so prolific. Lots of forage. Try a bait shop. Sorry OP for side tracking your post.

Look up mosquito fern. Can’t tell from the pics but my pond is covered with it. I think mine is too shallow and silted in to hold fish year round but I would still like to get rid of it.

Check with the north TX Co-op in Greenville for fish. The have a guy that comes ever now and then and delivers fish.
