    Campfire Question on Gun Collections

I've got a decent collection of guns. Nothing that would probably catch a collector's eye. Nothing too expensive or overly special, besides some family heirlooms, just practical guns that I use from time to time. I mostly bow hunt deer, so I don't use my hunting rifles much, unless I'm hunting with kids, but I sure keep buying them when I see a deal and I like nice glass on them. I have a few ARs, a lot of O/U shotguns, a few autoloaders, a couple dozen pistols in both revolver and autoloader.

I also now have 6 grandkids (4 girls and two boys) from my two oldest girls and no reason to think the two younger girls won't give me the same someday. I'd like to start a nice little collection for each grandkid. I plan to buy a small gun safe for each one and put them in my shop. I'll add a few to each safe from my collection and add to them every now and then. I'm gonna build them a nice collection.

The question is: What are the guns that every collection must have? My thoughts:

AR-15 (5.56) *may not be able to buy them in the future
    1911 (.45)
    O/U Shotgun (Browning or Beretta)
    Autoloader shotgun (Benelli M2)
Remington Nylon 66 (.22) *mainly because I already bought 13 of these
    .357 Revolver
Remington 700 or Winchester Model 70 (cal of choice)
    Marlin lever gun (30-30)

What doesn't belong or what needs to be added. What's on your list that's not on mine? Thanks for the feedback.

    Must haves to me are:
    Ruger skeleton stock rifles
    Winchester model 94 (22, 22mag, 30-30)
    Colt Pistols
Lots of AR’s and threaded barrel guns and many suppressors.

Don’t need cheap stuff like Taurus, savage, etc…

      I'd have a:
      Browning Buckmark 22.
      Rugar 10/22
      Marlin model 60
      Remington 870

I would replace the 357 with a gender appropriate carry gun. Meaning something like a P365 or G42.

You could probably sell off a few of Nylon 66s to fund all of your gun purchases for a while!

Gotta add a nice old side by side and a Weatherby Mark V to the list.

            Full size pistols
            Compact carry pistols
Bolt guns ranging from 223 to a large magnum.
A handful of ARs from short barrel red dots to a 18-20” variant with magnified optic
A shotgun for every occasion. Waterfowl, upland game, clays, etc
Enough rimfires to keep the kids and grandkids entertained

And absolutely most importantly a suppressor for each!

Every kid needs a single action .22

Coming from Grandpa skip the Rough Rider and go single 6

                Henry 22s, ruger 10/22, 22 pistol.

                Compact 9mm with mags/holsters

Ammo may be the hardest thing to get in the future. Stock up.

Long term guns that will appreciate in value:

                  Pre-64 Winchester 22lr
                  52
                  61
                  62
                  63
                  75

                  Pre-64 model 70's
                  Pre-64 levers of your liking

Colt Snake series wheel guns (pre current models) Diamondbacks / King Cobra & Pythons being most abundant. Law Enforcement series wheel guns are a lower price point option as well. Detective / Trooper / Officers Model Match

Kimber of Oregon 22lr (model 82 with several variants / options available) Made nice centerfires as well.

The minty Remington guns (pre bankruptcy) are becoming quite collectable be them centerfire, rimfire & shotguns...tons of options here.

Older Sako guns are doing well.

Smith & Wesson Pinned / Recessed wheel guns.

I'll post more as they pop in my noggin.

They’ve got the guns lined out,

How about 10K rounds of each caliber.

Also good safe gun being a single shot hammer gun

Stainless Ruger Mk II 22LR pistol, preferably with the bull barrel.

I agree with Artos. At least one of something that is a collectable.
