Quartering to and elevated that far back. I’m in the long track club.

I think guts! Maybe liver? Too far back for lungs, especially with a quartering to angle.

1/4 to might have folded a lung toward you which would help

Seems like a similar spot here if you consider I am sitting flat on the ground and the OP's deer was shot angled down. Passed through the area behind the heart and in front of the stomach. Notice I had to put a follow up shot in him. When I posted this back then, many folks thought the first shot was a money shot. As you can tell by my follow up shot, I wasn't sure and I didn't take that chance and let him get out of the pen. I was very fortunate he stayed in the pen and allowed me to get a second arrow in him.

I’m not sure how you hit one there and got the top of the heart?
OP I would say that’s right on the verge of guts. Hopefully you waited and found him dead.

Just thought I'd give everyone an early season "tune up".

My lease partner shot this deer last week. The deer didn't go far but he backed out and we decided to give him 3-4 hours. He had bedded close by and when we found him he was lying down facing us, alert. After hitting him in the shoulder on the second shot the deer got up an came towards us and crashed in the creek in front of us.

I'll try to upload the video tonight.

So those who agreed with Smart get to move to the front of the class.

                          Class dismissed.

Woohoo. I’ve never been at the front of any class.
