1987 that I’ve been working on slowly. Told my son he could drive it for his first vehicle. Has a 350 sbc with 400 transmission.

Leave that big lift. Put factory wheels on 37s and nit too wide. It will look awesome

I don’t want to have to re-gear the axles or use a ladder to get into the truck

I’m going for a more OEM look to fit the period, not to mention the fact that I may end up with the truck in the long run when/if he goes to college.

Building this truck for my 14 year old, he is into the classics rather than a newer trucks. Taking the 8” lift and 38’s off and installing a 4” and 33’s.

Will be a full refurbishment when I’m done, but bought it with a new 350 crate motor and turbo 350 3 speed tranny.

I did the same with my son - posted this in another thread a while back -

Another square body here. Bought this 86 in Big Spring and trailered it home as a project for my son and I when he was 14. We pulled it all apart, cleaned it up, upgraded lots of stuff like brakes and steering, put on a lift kit, had it painted and had it ready to go when he turned 16. It was a great project for us together, and he had plenty of sweat equity in it when complete. He was very proud. Highly recommend this kind of thing to spend time with your boy when not out hunting. Time goes too fast. He is 8 hrs away at college now and we get so little time together.

83 k10 4x4, 4" lift, 33x12.50 maxxis razrs, 98 5.7 vortec, new model auto tranny from an escalade, 98 burban xfercase, gets more dirt road, field, pasture miles than pavement.
Thought about selling it but came to my senses.. maybe when theres no more gasoline.
