Nope on deductible, not sure about maxout.

We have had visits with a new family Doc and I had major shoulder surgery in Nov and have never paid a dime that i know of, unless the wife did, but I do not think so.

You do not need supplemental, but that is where you will pay for sure!

OK, the supplemental plan we have covered the deductible from Medicare, BUT that plan is no longer avaliable. We are grandfathered for this plan so i guess visiting with this gentleman in Winters and under his advice, we pay nothing except for some minor prescriptions.

I work with Cigna Medicare Advantage. I am not necessarily promoting that but I am saying do your homework on the Advantage plans? I assume you have a PCP, so make sure that PCP is in network with the plan you chose unless you chose a true PPO plan. With those plans you can usually pick your primary care doc as long as you doc takes that plan.

If you have specialists, make sure the same.

Many of the Advantage plans are no monthly out of pocket for you. Do your homework? And every plan is different for different regions so make sure you are looking at your region.

Homework into all that the plans offer. Some plans will offer cash/gift card incentives for your yearly visits, completing certain maintenance screenings, etc.

I don't do sales. I work with the physicians but I can send you the contact of our sales person in your area.

Again, do your own research. I am not suggesting anything. And unfortunately it is confusing.

I would have to stop adding at least 6 months before signing up or be penalized for the HSA contribution.

Are you saying this is not correct?
          y

          I had company insurance also.

The way I understood it was you have to sign up, but can delay actual payments/benefits.
I could be wrong, but I got penalized my first month of SS to the tune of $467

Suggest going with an independent agent that has access to many alternative companies and plans. We were able to get with a Plan G company that annually determines your premiums based on your age you joined. Ours will always be based on age 65

Advantage plans are great unless you do any traveling out of state or at least their area. I looked at them and found ot that while I was spending the time at our cabin in the adirondacks that I would have no coverage, not even medicare. Be careful. We have a supplement though USAA. I think it's u\United Heath Care and our costs are very low.

Call Joe Namath, he’s always on TV promoting Medicare Advantage plans. I’m sick of seeing old Joe every commercial break.

                    This ^^^

Tracy and I are are tired of seeing him too. That group he is advertising for is shady. You will notice he says you "might" get the benefits he is touting. I will bet Joe himself is on regular Medicare A & B with a good supplement like part G and a good part D.

AARP Advantage Plan(UHC) for me, covers A, B, and drugs. Home delivery 90 day supply is free to me. I need to look into supplement coverage if it's that cheap.

What’s the difference between an Advantage Plan and a Supplemental Insurance?

                            In simple terms

Advantage Plan - You go to their doctors and hospitals (possible problem if you travel especially outside US)

Supplemental - You keep your doctor and hospital. More likely to pay for hospital and doctor use when traveling

OK, for all those that are looking at supplemental insurance and how much difference there is in a nutshell.

The wife and I have the normal A&B Medicare, PLUS we got lucky and have Plan F supplemental that is no longer avaliable. Fortunately we are grandfathered into the Plan F and as long as we pay for this plan, we will pay ZERO to our local hospital and/or Doctors (Baylor Scott & White). Doctor expenses while traveling, not sure.

I had shoulder surgery on Nov 3 and just got the final tally today! Over $28,000! of which we owe ZERO. Yes we are lucky and if you have Plan F now, better hang on to it!

Funny part is I had 4 screw anchors put in my shoulder at $2000 per screw! Most expensive part of the surgery!

Wife just informed me that if you turned 65 before Jan 1, 2020, then Plan F is avaliable to you! Might want to check into this!
