I love going to Vegas. During March Madness is never a good week to go. I think with the world kind of opening back up, people are capitalizing on vacations. A year of nothing leads to the following year/s to be packed. I typically go to Vegas Tues-Thurs or leave early on Friday morning. I gamble VERY little. But love the people watching, tours, shows etc. I have never had a bad time there. I have never found it to be expensive, maybe they are trying to make up for lost revenue? Who knows....

several things for sure and there are several other theories

        1. other states specifically California are not close to the same level of "open" as Nevada and while Arizona is more open Vegas still offers more to do

        2. stimulus money

        3. unemployment money....specifically in California and even Nevada and in addition to federal dollars.....California has state money they are giving out too and I read elsewhere (did not verify though so could be wrong) that in Nevada Uber/Lyft drivers get unemployment thus many are making enough sitting home and less wear and tear on their cars....if Nevada is paying them to sit you know CA is

        4. hotel nights are still CHEAP at some properties even if everything else is creeping up in price......it does not cost a lot to stand around and cause mayhem and you can still eat cheap enough if you just eat fast food especially compared to California prices and if you are methed out or coked up enough you are not eating anyway (or even just drunk and stupid)

        5. even if a hotel starts to jack up rates you can still cram 6 or 8 or more in a room and then it is CHEAP

        6. some have a theory that because crowds are thinner the trash stands out more.....at this point I think the % of trash is higher no matter what

        7. not everyone goes to "high end" (if you define Vegas as high end or parts of it as that) or expensive (Vegas is definitely on the expensive side outside of hotel rooms right now) places to do "high end" things some go there to do the same things that have trashed out where they nest.....all the more so when the places that normally let them run wild and trash things (California) now have an easy excuse to at least come try and break up their trashing of things......because of covid and lock downs

Ive been to vegas during the NFR and also when its not. Wife and i both agreed we would never go back unless it was during the NFR. Unless its for some unavoidable trip. Even if i have to pay more atleast during the NFR there are my kind of people everywhere.

If for no other reason, I am out on constant smell of skunk weed. I already hated the constant cig smoke - before that forced you to put your dirty clothes every night in a plastic bag unless you wanted to smell like an ashtray. Smoke either way stops me up and results in a migraine type headache for me.

When did the skunk weed in public become OK ? I thought it was still technically illegal for folks to consume in public in Nevada....is that not correct ?

it is illegal in public (IE out on the street) and it is illegal in casinos including casino hotel rooms and casinos could lose a license over it technically....but like many things these days it is just ignored

I believe the law for legal is in a private residence or (possibly) in a specific venue for it with no gambling and possibly even no alcohol also

as the original poster I will just say this - if you are determined to go to Vegas go during the week - Monday to Friday. The cab drivers all told me that during the week it was not too bad - Weekends?? Don't care what anybody says - it was a **** show - I just spent 4 days there and if I had known the mess it was then there is NO WAY I would have paid my money to go there

                        I'm convinced.

Used to have to go out there a couple of times a year for work.

Now, I have at least two excuses to stay away from that cesspool.

Same with us, my wife and I went then and it was terrible. Crowds were rough, strict on the masks, limited seating at tables, it was a terrible experience from our previous 2 trips there all within a year. It will be a while before we go back

hey Man - make the best of it. You can still enjoy it - just prepare - get restaurant reservations ahead of time - it is just different from how it has been for years but still Vegas - go and enjoy

So one more place to legalize weed and it goes down the crapper.... But that can't be the reason is what I'll be told

I know Vegas went downhill late 80's through the 90's but sounds like it took another turn for the worst lately.
