All mine are outside. One is a 10x10 dog kennel that I roofed and sparrow proofed. The other is a 8x8 cage that we used to raise flying squirrels in. The dog kennel birds are on the ground and the caged birds are on wire with a sand box.

            I like that idea.
How many can you keep in a pen?
Any issues with the Roos fighting?

Last year I had 23 hens and 4 roosters in the dog pen. This year I have 11 and 2. The 23 did fine but I just had more eggs than I could use.

                      Sprayed with avocado oil.
                      Seasoned with Meat Church VooDoo.
Baked at 225 for 20 minutes.

Then to the cast iron skillet with butter, hot sauce, more VooDoo for 3 or 4 minutes on each side.

                      Yummy

We used a drill bit plucker. Worked well. A little messy until I got my position and the drill speed right.

How many birds you raise in them? I've read you need a square foot per bird.
Also do you need nest boxes like in a hen house?

I had 27 in th10x10 last year and they did fine. This year I have 14. I think i have 11 in the wire cage. They lay anywhere they are when they're ready. No nest boxes needed. They won't use them.
