Bumping this back to the top as I never went through with it.

Seeing if QC10 is still the way to go? About to buy a lower or a Receiver set. Looking at the these:

Quarter Circle 10, THE AR Pistol Caliber BRAND. Leader in top of the line, dedicated AR15 Pistol Caliber parts. CALIFORNIA BUYERS: Please check with your transferring dealer before ordering. Many CA dealers are unwilling to process lower receiver transfers.

I have a question-- with what's available these days in the "pistol" classification, why would you opt to buy a $200 federal tax stamp for an SBR (specifically in the AR platform)?

Given the history of the ATF flip-flopping on legal vs illegal on a whim is enough for me; I.e. bump stocks....

They’ve already been wishy-washy on pistol braces also.

My answer is just because pistol braces suck as rifle stocks. A legit rifle stock is much much nicer to shoot shouldered.

Pistol braces are garbage in my opinion

I've built two on PSA dedicated 9mm lowers. Shooting both suppressed with Omega 9K cans. If I were going to use one for competition I would spend the money on the JP, but just to play with...PSA has worked fine.

For that budget, you could find an MPX, that’s the route I’d go.

I’ve just used whatever upper receiver I have laying around along with a Ballistics Advantage barrels. Used that setup with two suppressed shortys and one 16” gun.

you could build a nice one for that budget. armaspec makes some cool buffers, cheap version of the jp silent. stern defense makes some good uppers, sometimes on sale on opticsplanet
the new SBA3 braces are adjustable, check it
