    Tennis elbow

I haven't touched any weights for a good year, about 6 mo ago my left elbow developed a constant pretty bad ache followed shortly by my right elbow but it's less bothersome. I don't think I did anything to injure them but left has gotten pretty bad. Fast forward to now and I'm trying to pickup the weights again and man that elbow is making it tough. I power through it but it absolutely effects my lifts and form.

Anything I can do at home without seeing the doc, assuming it's tennis elbow? I don't go to the doc unless I think I'm dying and this won't kill me.

      There's a tennis elbow shot?

Probably a steroid shot, but I would get an MRI or something and find out the real problem because it is not going to get any better! Good luck.

After 6 months of physical therapy, I bought a $15 pressure pad wrap from Amazon which cleared up my pain in two weeks

This seems worth a shot. I did a quick search and there's a TON of them. Do you keep that on normally or just when you're lifting or working? Mine flares up bad at night when I'm sleeping.

The pressure bands work but may take a while. Wear it 24/7 if you can. In the future slap the band on at thr first twinge of pain.

This right here. Center it over the sore area. Not too tight though

                  Yep. Do this.

Mine used to get so bad I couldn’t pick up a bottle of water. The shots work great, for a little while anyway. If the doc gets them in the right spot it hurts like hell, but just for a bit. I don’t even know how many times I’ve had to get those dang shots.

I bought the Ace elbow brace with the air cushion. I could feel relief right after I put it on. The cushion goes over the pain at the top of the forearm. Not sure how it works but its like it supports that tendon and keeps it from extending too much. . I wore it every day for several months ( and at night) and then every time I might be doing something that would inflamed it like chainsawing, drilling a ton of screws in a fence, lifting ....anything with a lot of repetitive motion or vibration. It worked like a champ. So much so, that if I know I'm going to be doing something that could inflame it, I'll go find it. I split several cords of wood the other day and I grabbed it. No pain or inflammation and I palmed a lot of wood that day.

Awesome, thanks y'all! I went ahead and Amazon'd a couple options to try. Reading those reviews and the feedback here is encouraging.

First, stop all movements that induce pain. My sports medicine ortho said “power through muscle pain but never power through joint pain.”

Second, even though you’re not dying…if it’s broke, fix it. In other words let your GP take a look at it and confirm the epicondylitis(?) you think it is. If it is, as you suspect, epicondylitis, there some simple PT exercises you can do to promote healing. These can be found on the internet.

Personally, I would forego a steroid shot. Typically, when it comes to joint pain, all you’re doing is kicking the can down the road. Or even making the problem worse. Fix the problem, and the inflamación will go away on its own.

I tried everything known to man with only very limited results, ortho Dr gave me a shot first visit, hurt bad for a couple days, then amazingly no pain, stayed pain free for about six months, back to ortho, for another shot, he said he would give me three chances with the shot before surgery, second round didn’t hurt as bad, couple days later, pain gone, been 6 years pain free.

                              Golf balls aren't fun either.
