    Cancun Offshore Fishing Guides

Some dental school classmates and I are making a trip to Cancun for our spring break in March. Several of us are avid outdoorsmen, and want to book an offshore fishing trip.

Has anyone gone fishing while on vacation in Cancun? Any guide recommendations and first hand experience is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks GS!

I’m sure there is a lot of neat trips. When I’m down there I have tough time paying what they ask for what I could catch in port A for few dollars. Same fish.

      I’m cheap

The time of year I would not have high expectations. The best fishery there is Jan-Feb when the sails migrate and are between there and Isla Mujeres. I think I may actually try and go this year if I’m not late to schedule

That's what they told us, when we went down there in September about 10 years ago. All we caught were Dorado Dolphin, but we caught more and saw more than I have ever seen in my life. We were within sight of the shore. We were probably only 1 to 2 miles off shore. Saw more schools of flying fish than I have ever seen in my life on the trip out and back. I should have known what we were going to be catching a lot of, when we kept kicking up schools of flying fish.

Yep- other times you will catch occasional billfish or sails. Other than when they migrate and are thick there the fishery will be dorado and lots of Bonita.

We go to isla mujeres March or April, white marlin, lots of sailfish, a blue marlin, and enough mahi-mahi to feed friends and family @ the restaurant after the days fishing
Cancun & is isla same fishing ground

I have gone pre and post many times (actually just got back) and I'm not sure its worth it out of season. In hind sight I wish would have told them I wanted to chase a barracuda on my recent trip rather than a boat ride.
I am going to make the migration trip at some point.

We've caught several sails with keen m last February. They are out of isla though.
