Swapping Barrels on APR 6.5 PRC

I bought an APR TBH special in 2019. The barrel is the Muller Sendero 24" with ratchet fluting. When I picked it up, it felt so muzzle heavy and I immediately regretted not getting the carbon option. It shoots so good and is a great blind rifle but I would love to take it hunting and be able to carry it all day. For less the price of a new rifle, I can have APR swap it out to carbon.

    Questions.
    1) How much weight would I save with a carbon barrel?
    2) What are the choices for a carbon barrel that I need to consider? Profile, length?
    3) I do want to put a silencer on it at some point so I'm thinking about getting a 22" barrel. I realize I will lose some speed but is there anything else I should take into consideration?
    4) Or do I buy a 20-22" 6.5 Creedmoor/7mm-08 in a lightweight rifle and keep the APR rifle for use when I don't have to carry it?
    5) My current barrel is cerakoted. Do you do this to carbon barrels? Seems like you shouldn't.

    Thanks!

Since yours is a good shooting rifle, I would buy another rifle.
If it wasn’t I’d change the barrel.

I hear you. I can only use a handful of rifles and don't want a bunch of safe queens. I really want something to shoot for most everything and my .300 WinMag for big stuff. I'm thinking now I might go 20" carbon.

) How much weight would I save with a carbon barrel? -I don't know but Robert at APR can give you a good answer.
        2) What are the choices for a carbon barrel that I need to consider? Profile, length? You need to stick with the same profile as the barrel you are replacing so it fits the stock properly. Length is up to you. Sounds like you want to go 20" which I think is a great choice for a suppressed rifle.
        3) I do want to put a silencer on it at some point so I'm thinking about getting a 22" barrel. I realize I will lose some speed but is there anything else I should take into consideration? Sounds like you already answered your own question. The shorter the barrel the more speed you loose. But I like a 20" for suppressed.
        4) Or do I buy a 20-22" 6.5 Creedmoor/7mm-08 in a lightweight rifle and keep the APR rifle for use when I don't have to carry it? If you don't like the current rifle you might concider selling it the way it is and then just build what you want. But if the only thing you don't like is the barrel then change it. No point in keeping something you don't like.
        5) My current barrel is cerakoted. Do you do this to carbon barrels? Seems like you shouldn't. Typically carbon barrels are left bare carbon.
