Headed down next weekend. How is the surf fishing now? What should we set up with? Don't do it much but the boy want to fish. Thanks in advance.

My friend did well throwing swim baits on a jig head with purple and chartreuse and white and chartreuse colors... if lure fishing. -
I fished the surf quite a bit last week. The wind was perfect and there were a lot of reds and trout in the surf. I tried my hand with swim baits but didnt have much success, switched to croaker and had better luck. I never have much luck with lure fishing, dont think i hold my mouth right.Comment

they say the bad words might come back. cold water upwelling. the inshore water gets to cold, and the good fishing water is a few hundred yards off shore?
Dont know how true that is,. i seem to have no problem limiting out on hardheads.Comment

Fish on the jetties in the channel side before the rocks get to bad. Cut bait works good for reds and could possibly hook on to anything there.Comment

We’re headed down there tomorrow through Sunday. Had a guide for Friday but he tells me today that his boat is in the shop. Trying to scramble around for a last replacement but I’m not optimistic. We will probably try the jetties on Friday if we can’t find a guide. Never done it before, total rookie. Probably just try some shrimp or cut bait of some sort.
